Scottish punter places millionth bet on racing post app
A delighted Aberdonian was the recipient of a £1000 free bet courtesy of William Hill after the Scot placed the millionth bet on the Racing Post App.
Derek Aitken, who placed the milestone wager, is one of the hundreds of thousands of punters who have discovered the ease of betting on the app.
‘I’m over the moon,’ said Mr Aitken, ‘The Racing Post app is very easy to use and the William Hill betting is very handy.’
‘I had a few bets at Royal Ascot, but wasn’t too lucky. Normally I follow a few jockeys and trainers - so I’ll probably put the free bet towards that’
William Hill and the Racing Post created the ground breaking iPhone app in December 2010. The Racing Post application, which is the most popular horse racing app in the App Store, boasts seamless betting directly from Britain’s biggest bookmaker William Hill.
In short, it means you can browse Racing Post’s renowned news, tips and data, make an informed decision about which horse to back in a race and then place a bet simply by tapping the William Hill odds on the racecard. The race can then be followed with the Live Reporter function and via William Hill radio.
It adds up to a completely unique product in the mobile betting market.
‘We’re delighted with our partnership with the Racing Post, we knew the app would be well received but getting to the millionth bet within the first year is fantastic,’ said Michael Byrne, Head of Mobile at William Hill.
‘Mr Aitken was our lucky millionth bettor and we’d like to wish him the best of luck with his £1000 free bet.’
